    WebV: Cannot use Edit Search with multi-limit quick limit

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.1.1

    Description:
    Bug Report Issue 16384-17921

    Module: WebVoyage
    Releases replicated in: 7.2.2 - 8.1.1
    Last version without bug: 7.2.1

    Expected results: Users could edit searches in WebVoyage that use multi-limit quick limits.

    Actual results: Attempting to edit a search in WebVoyage that uses a multi-limit quick limit results
    in WebVoyage System Error.

    Workflow implications: Not clear why action fails; users must start search over.

    Replication steps:
    In webvoyage.properties, create a multi-limit quick limit – for example:
    page.search.limitTo.EngVideos=
    page.search.limitTo.EngVideos.limit=LANG=ENG|MEDI=v
    page.search.limitTo.EngVideos.order=4
    page.search.limitTo.EngVideos.text=English Language Videos

    In the WebVoyage Basic Search, enter a search term and then select the limit you created.
    From the search results page, click the Edit Search button.
    Get WebVoyage System Error.

    Following is logged in catalina.out:
    Mar 15, 2012 3:29:56 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve invoke
    SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet [SearchBasicServlet] in context with path [/vwebv] threw exception

    Workaround: Set individual limits for each and use post-search limits to further narrow the search
    (i.e., select English Language Materials in initial search, and then apply Video format limit to resulting
    search results set)

    Resolution:
