UB/Primo:if local db not selected in UB form at remote db, request not available

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 7.2.4

    Description:
Bug Report Form for Issue 16384-15762

    Modules: UB for Primo
    Server platforms affected: Solaris/all
    PC OS: n/a
    Browser & version: n/a
    Release(s) replicated in: 7.2.4; 8.0

    Expected results:
When checking SysAdmin>OPAC Configuration>Request Forms>UB Request form to see if the holding db is on the Selected side (that is to say, the UB request is available for items from that db), the system should look to the settings in the patron’s home database.

    Actual results:
It appears that the system looks to the SysAdmin>OPAC Configuration>Request Forms>UB Request form settings in the holding db to determine whether the UB request form should display for a particular item.

This means that if the holding db doesn’t have the local db selected (which is valid, indicating that the site does not allow local items to be UB requested for delivery at a remote campus), patrons will never see the UB request forms for these items.

Workflow implications: Items that are eligible for UB requests cannot be requested through Primo.

    Replication steps:
Create a patron in db A.
In db A SysAdmin>OPAC Configuration>Request Forms>UB Request form, verify that db B is on the Selected side, but that in db B’s SysAdmin>OPAC Configuration>Request Forms>UB Request form, the local db is *not* on the Selected side.
In Primo, conduct a search that retrieves an item available in db B.
Click on Request – the UB Request form will not display as available.
Go back to db B SysAdmin>OPAC Configuration>Request Forms>UB Request form and move the local db from Available to Selected.
In Primo, conduct the same search that retrieves the same item available in db B.
Click on Request – the UB Request form now displays and the patron can successfully place the request.

Workaround: Make sure that in the remote db’s SysAdmin>OPAC Configuration>Request Forms>UB Request form settings, the local db is selected. However, this is not an option for sites that don’t allow local items to be UB requested for delivery at a remote campus.

    Resolution:
