Are MARC records made read-only when a regen is running?

    Answer

Some type of MARC record is typically set to read-only during a regen. Which records depends on the type of regen.

For bibliographic (bib) keyword and bib left-anchored regens:
    * Bib records will be read-only.
    * Bib records can be searched, but cannot be created or updated in Cataloging, Circulation or Acquisitions.

For holdings(MFHD) keyword and MFHD left-anchored regens:
    * MFHD records will be read-only.
    * MFHD records can be searched, but cannot be created/updated in Cataloging, Circulation or Acquisitions.

    For authority left-anchored regens:
    * Authority records will be read-only.
    * Authority records can be searched, but cannot be created or updated in Cataloging. Staff in Cataloging, Acquisitions and Circulation will be able update/create bibs and mfhds.

    For headings regens:
    * Bib and authority records will be read-only.
    * Bib and authority records cannot be created/updated in Cataloging, Circulation or Acquisitions.

    Additional Information

For all regens, staff in Circulation will be able to circulate items, as item records are not affected.
