Widgets
Configuring Widgets
To configure widgets, you must have the following role:
- General System Administrator
Alma lets you define widgets to display on the Alma home page. Widgets can consist of Alma analytics reports or Web pages that have been created. For more information on configuring Alma analytics reports as widgets, see Displaying Analytics Reports in Alma. This section describes how to configure Web pages that you have created as widgets.
You configure widgets on the Customized Widgets page (Administration > General Configuration > Configuration Menu > Widgets > Customized Widgets).

Adding a Widget
The widgets you add on the institution level apply to all libraries within the institution.
To add a new widget:
- On the Customized Widgets page (Administration > General Configuration > Configuration Menu > Widgets > Customized Widgets), in the Create a New Mapping Row section, enter a key and name for the new widget. The widget name appears above the widget on the home page. The widget key is a permanent name that cannot be edited.
- Enter the following: Only HTTPS is supported.
- Privileges – Indicates the privileges necessary to add and view the widget.
- URL – The URL of the Web page that was created to serve as the widget. (Do not add url= before the URL; Alma adds this.)
- Description – A description of the widget
- Click Add Row. The new widget appears at the bottom of the list of defined widgets.
- Click Save to store the new widget details. Customized Widgets Page
After a widget has been defined, a user can configure it to appear on the Alma home page. See Managing Widgets.
Configuring the Home Page Notification Widget
To configure the Notification widget, you must have the following role:
- General System Administrator
You configure the Notifications widget on the Home Page Notifications page (Administration > General Configuration > Configuration Menu > General Configuration > Home Page Notifications).

To configure the Notifications widget:
- On the Home Page Notifications page (Administration > General Configuration > Configuration Menu > General Configuration > Home Page Notifications) fill in the following fields:
- Date – The date you want to appear in the Notifications widget
- Message – The message that you want to appear in the Notifications widget
- Message URL – The URL to which you want the message to link To force the URL to open in a new page, use <url>" target="_blank" (without a leading double quote), for example: http://www.google.com" target="_blank"
- Description – A description of the message (for internal use)
- Click Add Row to add the message to the Notifications widget.
- Click Save to save your changes.
Configuring Primo Widgets
To configure Primo widgets, you must have the following role:
- General System Administrator
You configure Primo widgets by selecting Administration > General Configuration > Configuration Menu, and then selecting Widgets > Primo Widget Search Fields, Widgets > Primo Widget Search Precision, or Widgets > Primo Widget Configuration from the Widgets.
