    Display Cross References for Field 510 in AUT Library

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Desired Outcome Goal:
    Display cross references for field 510 in AUT library? Example for an AUT record is
    110 2 $$aLondon Group
    5102 $$wg
    $$aCamden Town Group

    When viewing the index entry for "London Group" in BIB libraries AUT index and expand the AUT data the field 510 is not displayed.

    Procedure:
    Displaying a see reference in the expanded AUT data is dependent on the setting of xxx01/tab/edit_doc_999_aut_xxx10.eng. Please see in the header of the table:

    ! In MARC 21, sub-field $w, 4th position (that is, $wxxx4) - of both the 4XX
    ! and 5XX - contains a code that enables the generation or suppression of a
    ! cross-reference from 4XX or 5XX fields. If the fourth position of sub-field
    ! $w contains a blank or contains an 'n' (or the sub-field does not exist),
    ! then the cross-reference is generated and the fields are shown in all
    ! relevant places: browse list, expanded authority record, under the heading
    ! in the brief record, and so on. If the fourth position of sub-field $w
    ! contains something different, then the cross-reference is suppressed.
    ! .
    ! To support this, it is necessary to use the filter columns in this table
    ! for the display and in the tab20 table for the enrichment definitions.
    ! The following is an example of the lines for this table:

    Example for the configuration for 5nn fields (Each line commented after ===)
    ## 5#### w g D LBroader term Y X E === Field is displayed with introd. "Broader term" when SF "w" is filled with "g"
    ## 5#### w g!!n D LBroader term Y X E === Field is displayed with introd. "Broader term" when SF "w" is filled with "g" and 4th. Position of SF "w" is "n"
    ## 5#### w g!! * D LBroader term Y X E === Field is displayed with introd. "Broader term" when SF "w" is filled with "g" and 4th. Position of SF "w" has any character
    ## 5#### w h!!n D LNarrower term Y X E === Field is displayed with introd. "Narrower term" when SF "w" is filled with "h" and 4th. Position of SF "w" is "n"
    ## 5#### w h!! * D LNarrower term Y X E === Field is displayed with introd. "Narrower term" when SF "w" is filled with "h" and 4th. Position of SF "w" is any character
    ## 5#### w h D LNarrower term Y X E === Field is displayed with introd. "Narrower term" when SF "w" is filled with "h"
    ## 5#### w - D LSee also Y E === Field is displayed with introd. "See also" when SF "w" is not available

    When the content of SF is changed from "w" to "g" (instead "a" as it is now, see above example) and you save the record on server field 510 is displayed when expanding AUT data.

    Recommendations:
    *** Add a line with ...
    ## 5#### w a D LSee also Y E
    to table xxx01/tab/edit_doc_999_aut_lon10.eng
    *** Correct the values in the AUT records
