360 Search: No Checkbox by Database on Search Page

Why isn't there a checkbox next to a database on our 360 Search page, which means we can't do a federated-search of that database?
This situation occurs when there is no federated-search connection set up for that database.
As an example, see Academic Journals in the following screenshot:

There are two possible reasons this could occur:
- Your library has not yet set up the federated-search connection to that database. Follow the instructions for the 360 Search Administration Console - Database Settings; or
- There is no federated-search connection to that database and someone in your library has chosen to set it up as a link-only database.
