360 Search: OCLC Results Don't Have Direct Links
- Product: 360 Search
Why don't OCLC results have direct links in 360 Search?
OCLC does not support stable, title-level linking to abstract content or bibliographic records, only to full-text content. This means that 360 Search cannot build a link to non-full-text results; users can only access the content by clicking on the Source link and searching in OCLC for it, or by using 360 Link to see if the full-text content is available in another database.
We are encouraging OCLC to enhance their databases to support stabl,e title-level linking to abstracts and bibliographic records.
If you like, you may also contact your OCLC representative and let them know that you would like stable, title-level linking to be made available for 360 Search. Please send the following email message to OCLC to request the ability to link to non-full-text content:
"Serials Solutions has informed me that OCLC does not support stable, title-level linking to abstract content or bibliographic records, only to full-text content. Would you please consider enhancing your databases so they support stable, title-level linking to non-full-text results? This would enhance the current OCLC experience through our federated-search engine, 360 Search."
