360 Search: Gale Connection Update -- July 2014

    • Product: 360 Search

What do I need to do to now that Gale has made changes to federated searching for Gale databases?

Gale has recently made changes to how their databases can be searched via federated search. Due to these changes several of our existing connections have migrated to a new connection platform, have been retired, or have an alternate database where the content is searched. Please review this spreadsheet to determine if any of the databases you are currently subscribed to have been impacted. There are five separate worksheets in the spreadsheet:
    • Migrated
    • Alternate Databases
    • Retired
    • Custom Collections
    • Newly Added

Below is information regarding the databases on each worksheet. Databases not included in the spreadsheet were not impacted by this update and no action is necessary.

    Migrated

Review this worksheet displaying the list of migrated sources to ensure that your Gale LocID is configured for authentication.
    • Ensure that your LocID is configured in the Database Details page in the 360 Search Administration Console.
      • If you use the same LocID for authentication to all databases, you can configure your LocID in the Interface Details page instead.

    Alternate Databases

Review this worksheet displaying databases that have been replaced by other databases.
    • Set the replacement database to Subscribed status in the Client Center.
    • Set the existing (old) database to Not Tracked status in the Client Center.
    • Ensure that your LocID is configured in the Database Details page in the 360 Search Administration Console.
      • If you use the same LocID for authentication to all databases, you can configure your LocID in the Interface Details page instead.

    Retired

Review this worksheet displaying databases that have been retired.
    • Set the retired database to Not Tracked status in the Client Center.

    Custom Collections

Review this worksheet displaying custom collections that Gale is managing differently now.
    • Ensure that your custom collections in the Client Center have been updated:
      • Custom journal collections in the Client Center have been renamed from Custom Connection (SPXX) to Custom Journals SPJ.SPXX where XX represents the number code for the collection.
      • Custom newspaper collections in the Client Center have been renamed from Custom Connection (SPXX) to Custom Newspapers SPN.SP00 through SPN.SP04 and SPN.SP24.
  • Ensure that your LocID is configured in the Database Details page in the 360 Search Administration Console.
    • If you use the same LocID for authentication to all databases, you can configure your LocID in the Interface Details page instead.

  • Newly Added

Review this worksheet displaying newly added connections.
    • Set the new database to Subscribed status in the Client Center.
    • Ensure that your LocID is configured in the Database Details page in the 360 Search Administration Console.
      • If you use the same LocID for authentication to all databases, you can configure your LocID in the Interface Details page instead.
